ITB# FRDAP-01

The City of Archer located at 16870 SW 134th Ave., Archer, FL 32618 hereby encourages interested contractors to submit bids for improvements to the Holly Hills Tot Lot in accordance with the ITB# FRDAP-01 bid package.

The awarded contractor shall be responsible for installing a pre-engineered 16 by 24 pavilion designed to withstand hurricane force winds. Completion date for the project will be one-hundred and twenty (120) days from the date the Notice to Proceed is presented. Liquidated damages for failure to complete the project on the specified date will be set at $50.00 per day.

Financing of the work will be provided in whole or in part by the Florida Recreational Development Assistance Program (FRDAP). Therefore, procurement and project approval shall follow program guidelines.

Sealed bids are to be submitted on or before November 13, 2015 at 4:00pm to John Glanzer, City Manager in accordance with the bid package instructions. IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT YOUR DRINKING WATER

This is NOT an immediate risk.

If it had been, you would have been notified immediately.

The City of High Springs must notify citizens that the water system exceeded the standard, or Maximum Contaminant Level (MCL), for Stage 2 Disinfected Byproducts (S2 DBP) which includes Total Trihalomethanes (TTHMs) and Haloacetic Acids [Five] (HAA5s) between April June 2015. Compliance for DBPs are based upon the average level over the last year at each location. This is called the Locational Running Annual Average (LRAA). The LRAA results for TTHMs were above the MCL (Maximum Contaminant Level) of 80 micrograms per liter (ug/L), with a result of 85.27 ug/L at 110 NW 1st Avenue and 124 ug/L at 25083 NW 210th Lane. The LRAA results for HAA5s were above the MCL of 60 ug/L, with a result of 74.06 ug/L at 110 NW 1st Avenue and 81.57 ug/L at 25083 NW 210th Lane. Please be assured that your water is safe to drink.

Please share this information with all the other people who drink this water, especially those who may not have received this notice directly (for example, people in apartments, nursing homes, schools and businesses). You can do this by posting this notice in a public place or distributing copies by hand or mail.

Some people who drink water containing TTHMs in excess of the MCL over many years may experience problems with their liver, kidneys, or central nervous system, and may have an increased risk of getting cancer.

Some people who drink water containing HAA5s in excess of the MCL over many years may have an increased risk of getter cancer.

Any customers who are concerned about their exposure to DBPs may choose alternative sources of water for ingestion. Public Notice is required quarterly until the LRAA is below the MCL.

The City of High Springs Water Department is doing the following remedies to ensure that the DBP results will decrease and will not continue to exceed limits:

Reducing the levels of the storage tanks in order to decrease the water age.

Increase flushing of water lines.

Have cleaned and inspected our storage tanks.

The Public Works Department will continue to sample quarterly and you will be informed when levels of DBPs are below the MCLs. For more information on Disinfection Byproducts call EPA Safe Drinking Water Hotline at 800-426-4791 or Florida Department of Health at 850-245-4444.
