  • Jonathon Maurice Sellers, 20, of Mayo, was arrested on June 18 on charges of possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and maintaining a drug dwelling, according to a Waldo Police report. Police pulled over Sellers’ vehicle for a tint violation. A second police car arrived for backup and did a narcotics check with a K-9 police dog. The K-9 detected the odor of illegal drugs, and police found a backpack in the trunk with six clear plastic baggies of marijuana in it, totaling 6.2 ounces. The baggies were packaged consistent with street level narcotic sales, according to police. Sellers was taken to the Alachua County Jail.

Tavares L. Flagg, 19, of Alachua, was arrested on May 25 on charges of possession of cocaine, according to a report from the Alachua Police Department. Flagg was riding as a passenger on a scooter at about 7 p.m., when police pulled the driver over for running a stop sign. As the scooter pulled over, police saw Flagg throw a pill bottle into a small home garden. Police searched the garden and found that the bottle had a one-gram bag of cocaine inside it.

 

Elboric Quadarius Robinson, 19, of Alachua, was arrested on May 28 on charges of possession of marijuana with intent to sell, according to the Alachua Police Department. Police had a warrant for Robinson’s arrest. Police searched him upon arrest and found seven baggies of marijuana, totaling 8.8 grams.

 

Lessie Jewel Worthy-Speed, 51, of Alachua, was arrested on May 24 on charges of shoplifting, according to a report from the Alachua Police Department. The manager of the Food Lion in Alachua called police to report a woman carrying several videos into the bathroom. The manager said he found three empty movie cases in the bathroom that matched three loose DVDs found in Worthy-Speed’s car. Police also found seven packs of Kool-Aid in the suspect’s bra. The total value of all of the items is $30.33.

Reward offered in LaCrosse homicide

On May 6, 2010, deputies from the Alachua County Sheriff’s Office discovered that a LaCrosse man had been shot to death inside his residence at 20701 NW 52nd Street.  Aresenio Cabezas’ death has been ruled a homicide.  In an effort to generate leads in the investigation, a $2,500 reward is being offered through Crime Stoppers at 352-372-STOP (7867) for anyone who provides information leading to the identity and arrest of the person or persons responsible for Cabezas’ death.  An additional $1,000 reward is available through the Alachua County Gun Bounty Program.

• Lonnie Charles Jackson, 29, of Jacksonville, was arrested on Feb. 19 on charges of possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and maintaining a drug vehicle, according to a Waldo Police Department report. Jackson was pulled over for the tag not being assigned to his vehicle. The officer noticed the smell of marijuana, searched Jackson and found a small bag of marijuana and a marijuana blunt. Jackson was taken to Alachua County Jail.


• Willie James Hines, 40, of Gainesville, was arrested on Feb. 16 on charges of possession of a stolen credit card, improper temporary tag, petit theft and resisting officer without violence, according to a Waldo Police Department report. While an officer was conducting a field sobriety test at a gas station, Hines pulled up a couple of feet from the car of the person undergoing the test. Hines asked police about the man and continued to hang around, after being asked by an officer to go on with his business and stop interfering with an investigation. According to the police report, Hines had a hostile attitude and refused to follow police orders. Police found a stolen credit card in Hines’ passenger seat and noted that his temporary license plate was improperly attached. He was taken to Alachua County Jail.

Jeffrey Lee Zimmerman Jr., 34, of Brooker, was arrested on Feb. 2 on charges of driving under the influence, driving while license suspended or revoked, failure to register vehicle, illegal license plate, and possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, according to a Waldo Police Department report. Police pulled over Zimmerman over for having an expired tag, not wearing a seatbelt and running a stop sign. Zimmerman failed a sobriety test and had a blood alcohol level of 0.188 and 0.205 according to the report. He was taken to Alachua County Jail.

Charles Jackson, 50, of Starke, was arrested on Feb. 1 on charges of possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia and maintaining a drug dwelling, according to a Waldo Police Department report. Police pulled over Jackson for not wearing a seatbelt. Police detected marijuana on his breath and found a joint in the center console of his car. Jackson was taken to Alachua County Jail.

Quenton Maurice Floyd, 20, of Tampa, was arrested on Feb. 3 on charges of criminal use of personal identification information, according to a Waldo Police Department report. Floyd was a passenger in a car that was pulled over for speeding. When asked to identify himself, he told the police his brother’s name instead of his own. The officer later found out that Floyd had warrants and was not who he said he was. He was arrested and taken to Alachua County Jail.
