Jack Sumpter, Jr., 76, departed this life on Wednesday, November 9, 2011 at Shands Hospital at the University of Florida. He was born to the late Jack and Marion Sumpter, their sixth child.
Mr. Sumpter lived his life between Fort White and Deerfield, Fla.
He is survived by two sisters, Mildred Sumpter Johnson of High Spring, Fla., and Marion Strawder of Gainesville, Fla., and three brothers, Frankie (Dorthea) Sumpter of Gainesville, George Strawder of Fort White, Fla., and Abraham (Almeda) Strawder of Lake City, Fla., a special friend, Barbara C. Bridge, of Gainesville and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and sorrowing friends.
Funeral service for Mr. Sumpter will be held on Saturday, November 19, 2011 at 2 p.m. at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church, Rev. Donnell Sanders, Pastor, Fort White, Fla. Burial will follow in Heavenly Rest Cemetery, Ft. White. Visitation will be Friday 5 p.m. - 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Arrangements entrusted to A. Jerome Brown Funeral Home, 1560 N W 1st Avenue, High Springs, Fla.
