Doris M. James, 92, of Alachua/High Springs, Florida, entered Heaven on Monday morning Aug. 29 at her daughter’s home in Dunnellon, Florida.

She was born in Orlando, January 16, 1924 and was raised in High Springs and returned to this area in 1989. She was a member of New Oak Grove Baptist Church. She was affectionately known as “DaDa.”

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert E James; her parents, Albert and Maudie Waddell; and a brother, Gene Waddell. She is survived by two daughters; Murla W. Vaughn of Alachua/High Springs and Cynthia J. (Richard) Cusack of Dunnellon; grandchildren Cheryl (Mike) Harris, Emory Vaughn, Robert (Kris) Cusack and Rick ( Irene) Cusack; and great-grandchildren Katie Cusack, Kylie Cusack, Richard Cusack and August Vaughn.

Services will be held Friday, Sept. 2 at 11 a.m. at New Oak Grove Baptist Church with Mike Harris and Terry Ellixson officiating. Interment will be at High Springs Cemetery. Visitation will be held Thursday, Sept. 1, from 2-3 p.m. at Evans Carter Funeral Home High Springs, 386-454-2444.

Kevin Muse, 53 of High Springs, Florida, passed on Aug. 25, 2016. He is survived by family and friends. Mr. Muse was an employee of Dollar General Distribution Center.

Maudine Lee Douglas, 84, a longtime Gilchrist County resident, passed away on Saturday morning, Aug. 27, 2016 at NFRMC in Gainesville following a lengthy illness.

She was a long-time member of First Baptist Church of High Springs, Florida. Mrs. Douglas retired from General Electric/Gates Energy after 30 years of service. Her hobbies included quilting, crafts, spending time with her family (grandchildren), and cooking for her family using many recipes from her cookbook collection. She was the final sibling of the Lee family.

Mrs. Douglas is survived by her son, Donald Douglas of High Springs; daughter, Wanda Hudson of Ft. White, Floirda; grandchildren Kitty (Chris) Thornton, Kevin (Cori) Douglas, Kurt Douglas, Michael (Brittany) Hudson, and Tammy Hudson; seven great- grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.

The Douglas family will receive guests at a visitation on Wednesday, Aug. 31, 2016 from 6 – 8 p.m. at Evans Carter Funeral Home, 18724 North Main Street, High Springs, with a Funeral Service the following day, Thursday, Sept. 1, 2016 at 10 a.m. at First Baptist Church, High Springs.

Pearlie Lee Anderson, 91 of High Springs, Florida, passed on Wednesday, Aug. 10, 2016.
She was preceded in death by daughter Daisy Wilson Posser.  Ms. Anderson is survived by devoted children: Lennard Wilson (Sharon), Gainesville, Florida, Amos Davis, High Springs, Annette Davis Jones (Ernest), Jacksonville, Florida.
Viewing for Ms. Anderson will be held Friday, Aug. 19, 2016 from 6 p.m. – 7 p.m. at the funeral home, 1560 N.W. 1st Avenue, High Springs. Funeral services will be held Saturday, Aug. 20, 2016, 1 p.m. at Williams Tabernacle Church of God by Faith, 1605 N.W. 1st Avenue, High Springs. Interment will be in Pine Hill Cemetery, High Springs.
