GAINESVILLE – The University of Florida football program announced its 2012 schedule on Wednesday. The Gators' 12-game schedule features seven games within the friendly confines of Ben Hill Griffin Stadium.

UF will kick off its season at The Swamp on Sept. 1 against Bowling Green from the Mid-American Conference. It will be the first-ever meeting on the gridiron between the schools.

The Orange and Blue will open Southeastern Conference play the following weekend in College Station, Texas, at Texas A&M, in the Aggies’ debut contest as a member of the SEC. The clubs have split two all-time meetings, with UF notching a 42-6 triumph in Gainesville on Oct. 13, 1962, and the Aggies posting a 37-14 win in the Sun Bowl in El Paso, Texas, on Jan. 2, 1977. The Gators will face Eastern Division rival Tennessee at Neyland Stadium on Sept. 15 seeking to extend their seven-game winning streak over the Vols. This will be the first time since 2001 that Florida has not opened its conference campaign against UT.

The Gators will welcome Kentucky to Gainesville on Sept. 22 and will have their bye week on Sept. 29 before a home encounter with defending league champion LSU (Oct. 6) and a trip to the Music City to meet Vanderbilt (Oct. 13). Following a visit by South Carolina on Oct. 20, Florida and Georgia will renew acquaintances in Jacksonville at EverBank Field on Oct. 27.

A three-game home stretch starts on Nov. 3, when Missouri ventures to The Swamp to meet UF for the first time as an SEC foe. In the only previous meeting between the teams, the Tigers collected a 20-18 victory in the Sugar Bowl on Jan. 1, 1966, in New Orleans, La. The Gators will host UL-Lafayette on Nov. 10 and Jacksonville State on Nov. 17 before concluding the regular season in Tallahassee on Nov. 24 at Florida State.
