Jessie “Floyd” Beach of Trenton, Fla., passed away Sunday, February 14, 2010 following a brief illness.  He was 78.

Mr. Floyd was born on August 26, 1931 to William “Bill” and Gladys Beach in Trenton, Fla.  On October 10, 1952, Floyd married Mildred Beach and their family soon grew to include seven children. Floyd served in the United States Army from 1953-1955 and then returned to Gilchrist County where he and his family farmed for a number of years. He then went to work for the Gilchrist County Road

Department and later retired after 16 years of service. Floyd was probably best known for owning Beach’s Grocery in Waccassasa for over 10 years.

He was a devoted husband, brother, father of seven, grandfather of 8, and great- grandfather of 11. He was loved by many and will be sorely missed.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Virginia “Sue” Suggs (Mark) and sisters, Annette Davis (Frank) and Jeanette Lane (Ed).

Survivors include his wife, Mildred Beach, children, Robert “Bobby” Beach (Jennifer), Shirley Rutledge (Mike), Katie Roland (Jimmy), Felecia Barron (Jackie), Bobbie Jean Spivey (David), and Ann Garner; brothers, Jerry Beach (Reeva) of Trenton, Fla., and Jay Beach (Linda) of Trenton, Fla., and various nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.

A visitation was held on Wednesday, February 17, 2010 from 6-8 p.m. at Milam Funeral Home of Newberry.

Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, February 18, 2010 at the Union Baptist Church, 6259 SE 75th Avenue, Newberry, Fla.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that any donations be made to Tri-County Council for Senior Citizens.
