Obituary2012James A Mears “Al”, 71, of Lake City, Fla., passed away on September 2, 2012.

Mr. Mears was born on May 19, 1941 in Miami, Fla., to Vennis and Edith Mears.  He retired from Florida Power and Light Company as an electrician.  He was of the Baptist faith and was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church in Fort White, Fla.

He is survived by his wife, Flora; two sons, Jim Mears of Thomaston, Ga., and David Faircloth of Charleston, S.C.; two daughters, Cindy Heller of Whiteville, N.C. and Cheryl Balara of Jacksonville, Fla., two sisters, Elaine Persalta of Sebring, Fla., and Brenda Howell of Ashville, N.C.; and 11 grandchildren.

A visitation was held on Wednesday, September 5, 2012 from 10 to 11 a.m. at Shiloh Baptist Church, 173 SW Shiloh Street, Fort White.  Funeral services were at 11 a.m. at Shiloh Baptist Church with Pastor Earl Tuten officiating.  Burial followed at Shiloh Baptist Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Haven Hospice, 4200 NW 90th Blvd., Gainesville, FL  32606.

Arrangements are entrusted to Evans-Carter Funeral Home, 220 North Main Street, High Springs, FL.

W_-_Obit_JimLittle2012James Allen Little, Sr., 65, passed away unexpectedly on August 26, 2012.  Mr. Little had been a longstanding resident of Newberry, Fla., since 1970, and had been in business servicing air conditioners for customers in the community for 37 years

He is survived by his wife, Celia Little of Newberry; son, James "Allen" Little, Jr. of Newberry; daughter, Christine Little of Gainesville, Fla.; six grandchildren, Kyla, Kyle, and Canaan, Carman and Leighton, Avery, and James "AJ" Little (III); two great-grandchildren, Ashlyn and Aden; two brothers, Walter Little of Starke, Fla., and Larry Little of Gainesville, and sister, Ann Cline of Newberry.

Family and friends can only cry for a minute before laughter rings out from a story shared by those who knew him.  Please bring your memories and stories and join us in prayer to celebrate his life on Saturday, September 1, 2012 at 11:30 a.m. at Christian Life Fellowship, 19817 W. Walton Cason McNeill, 98, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, August 27, 2012.

Mrs. McNeill was born on November 2, 1913 in Branford, Fla., to Jeff and Lula Cason.  She was a member of Mt. Horeb Baptist Church, Faithful Friends Association, and was active in the Alachua General Hospital Auxiliary before AGH was closed.

She was preceded in death by her husband, R.A. McNeill, daughter, Nell Lanier and grandson Jason Langford.

She is survived by her children; four sons, Laverne McNeill, J.D. (Mary) McNeill and Kenny (Libby) McNeill all of High Springs, Fla., and Harold McNeill of Lake City, Fla.; five daughters, Bernice (Harry Jr.) Guynn of Alachua, Fla., Marilyn Porter of Lake City, Fla., Loiselle Conner of Marietta, Ga., Charlotte Glenn of Ft. White, Fla., and Sherry (Terry) Langford of High Springs, Fla., 20 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren and 16 great-great-grandchildren and a loving caregiver, Sandi Boris.

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, August 29, 2012 at 11 a.m. at High Springs Cemetery, 400 NW 8th Ave., High Springs, Fla., that will be officiated by Rev. James West and Brother Fred McCray.  A visitation will follow after the service.

Flowers are welcomed but those who wish may make donations to Hospice of the Nature Coast, 150 North Main Street, High Springs, FL 32643.

Harold R. Heil, 78, of High Springs, Fla., passed away in his home on August 21, 2012. Mr. Heil was born in Emmaus, Pa. on April 9, 1934 to Chalmers and Merle Heil. He is survived by two sons, H. Richard Heil of Tenn. and Michael Heil of Colo.; four daughters, Linda Magnuson of Wis., Sylvia LaRosa and Tina Carpenter of Fla., and Lucille Heil of N.C.; and nine grandchildren, Jaime, Lindsey, H. Richard, Becca, John Michael, Kierstin, Tyler, Nathan and Ariana.

Arrangements are under the care of Evans-Carter Funeral Home, High Springs, Fla.

W_-_Obit_GayJamesRussell James (Jim) Russell Gay Jr., 72, died Monday, August 20, 2012 at North Florida Regional Medical Center from injuries sustained from a fall at home.  Mr. Gay was a graduate of North Carolina State University with a B.A. in Business Administration.  He retired from Farm Credit Service of North Florida in 1989 as president.  He attended and was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Alachua.

Mr. Gay is survived by his wife of 51 years, Anne Fields Gay; their two sons, Russ (Laurie) Gay of High Springs and Rodney (Julie) Gay of Alachua.  He was a loving and devoted grandfather of four; Stephanie Swilley of Ft. White, Samantha Lillard of High Springs and Austin and Courtney Gay of Alachua.  He is survived by one great-granddaughter, Rylee Anne Swilley.

Funeral Services will be held Friday, August 24, 2012 at 11 a.m. at First United Methodist Church of Alachua, 14805 NW 140th Street, with Pastor Lamar Albritton officiating.  Interment will follow in Newnansville Cemetery.  The family will receive friends Thursday, August 23, 2012 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Williams-Thomas Funeral Home West area, 823 NW 143rd Street.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests gift contributions be made to First United Methodist Church of Alachua at P.O. Box 668, Alachua, FL  32616.
