Obituary2012  Walser Keith Newman, 82, of Ft. White, Fla., passed away on March 17, 2012 in Gainesville, Fla.

He was a banker and a member of First United Methodist Church of High Springs.

He is survived by sons, Gregory Newman of Carrabelle, Fla., Graham Newman of Coral Springs, Fla., and Christopher Newman of High Springs; and 11 grandchildren.

Visitation will be on Saturday, March 24, 2012 at 10 a.m., followed at 11 a.m. by a funeral Service at First United Methodist Church, 17405 NW US Hwy 441, High Springs, Fla., officiated by Rev. Benton Mangueira.  Interment will be in High Springs Cemetery.

Arrangements are under the care of Evans-Carter Funeral Home, High Springs.

Kenneth Ray English, 63, resident of Valdosta, Ga., and High Springs, Fla., passed away Saturday, March 17 at his home in Valdosta.

He was a Viet Nam veteran, having served in the US Army. He was employed at Dixie Packers in Madison for 15 years and was an avid hunter and fisherman.

Survivors include his wife, Faith English of Valdosta; mother, Ann Whited of High Springs; three sons; Kevin (Angela) English of Ft. White, Darrell (Teresa) Keene of Bell, Justin Jones of Valdosta; one daughter, Kathy Pyle of Ft. White; three brothers, Rick (Mary) English of High Springs, Chris (Carol) English and Steve (Wanda) English, also of High Springs; two sisters, Sheila Benanno of Inverness and Betty Goulet of Cedar Key; and seven grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father, Chapman English and brother, Michael English.

Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, March 21, 2012 at 1 p.m. with Rev. S.J. Brown officiating, with visitation at 12 noon at Evans-Carter Funeral Home, High Springs.

Obituary2012 Gertrude Brownfield, 89, of Fort White, went to be with Jesus on Saturday evening, March 3, 2012, at Plantation Oaks ALF in High Springs. She was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church and widow of the late Cecil L. Brownfield, Sr., having been married 60 years.

Survivors include two sons; Cecil L. Brownfield, Jr., of Gainesville and John Brownfield of Carmel, Ind.; three daughters, Carol DePauw of  St. Augustine, Fla., Cynthia Brownfield of Gainesville and Lisa Brownfield Gocek of High Springs, 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Vivian Greenwood.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 7, 2012 at Shiloh Baptist Church with Rev. Earl Tuten officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday, March 6, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Evans-Carter Funeral Home, High Springs, Fla.

Quillon Nova Riley, Jr., 62, of Alachua, Fla., passed away on March 13, 2012 in Gainesville, Fla., at E.T. York Hospice Care Center. A longtime resident of Alachua County, he was a sheet metal welder in construction, member of Sheet Metal Workers’ Local Union #435 and a member of the Baptist  Faith.

He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Julie E. Riley of Alachua; son, Wes Riley, Alachua; daughter, Sandi Riley Hayes, LaCrosse, Fla., four sisters, Marguerite (Lem) Lee, Newberry, Dottie (Bill) Holmes, Gainesville, Hazel (Wayne) Pearce, Gainesville; one grandson, Jacob Hayes, LaCrosse; special friends; Bevin Ritch, Gainesville, Tiffany English, Alachua, Tricia Baldwin, Providence, Fla., Jan Moore, High Springs, Fla., and numerous relatives and friends.

A Memorial Service was held on Saturday, March 17, 2012 at 11 a.m. at New Oak Grove Baptist Church, 18100 NW 262nd Avenue, Alachua, Fla., with Rev. Terry Elixson officiating.

Obituary2012  Joe Spickney, 87, of High Springs, passed on Tuesday, February 14, 2012.  He was born to the late Rueben and Sarrah McNish Spickney in Newberry, Fla.

He was a member of Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church and employed by the railroad company.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Laverne L. Spickney; sisters, Annie B. Green, Bessie Lee Green, and Susie Spickney.

He leaves to cherish his memory, nieces, Angela Spickney and Mary Neal (Earl) Nesbit; and nephew Nathaniel Decoursey; and a host of great nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends.

Funeral service for Mr. Spickney will be Saturday, February 25, 2012 at 10 a.m. at Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church, Rev. Stanford Jackson, officiating.  Burial will follow in Pine Hill Cemetery.  Visitation will be Friday, February 24, 2012 from 6 to 8 p.m.
