Lorraine Jean Hall, 82, of High Springs, Fla., passed away on December 30, 2011 at Still Waters West ALF in Lake City, Fla.

She worked in child care as a nanny and was of the Christian Faith.

She is survived by her son, Richard Lee (Sherry) Lane of Simi Valley, CA and her daughter, Darla J. (Michael) Taylor of High Springs.

Visitation will be on Monday, Jan. 2, 2012 from 9 to 10 a.m. at Evans-Carter Funeral Home Chapel followed by a funeral service at 10 a.m. Arrangements are under the care of Evans-Carter Funeral Home, High Springs, Fla.

obit  Milton M. Lane, 69, longtime High Springs resident departed this life on Saturday Dec. 24, 2011 at E.T. York Hospice Care Center. He was a native of Jacksonville, Fla.  He was a truck driver for Benjamin Moore Paints and a member of Shiloh Baptist Church.

Survivors include wife, Jackie Lane of High Springs; sons, Billy, Edward, Melvin Jr., Jimmy, David and Art Lane; two daughters, Joyce and Sandy Lane; one sister, Jeanne Young; eight grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m., Friday, December 30, 2011 at Evans-Carter Funeral Home in High Springs with Rev. Mark Driskell officiating. Burial will be in the Shiloh Baptist Church Cemetery in Fort White, Fla. Visitation will be Thursday Dec. 29, 2011 at the funeral home 6 p.m. – 8 p.m.

obit  Grace Virginia Keller, 87, of Gainesville, Fla., passed away on December 14, 2011 at North Florida Regional Medical Center in Gainesville.

She is survived by her daughter, Karen Davis of Alachua, Fla.

Services and interment will be in Oak Hill, West Virginia.

obit  Paul Scott, 31, of Patterson, Ga., died Saturday at his residence.  He was born in Norwich, Conn. and lived a majority of his life in Alachua, Fla. before moving to Patterson four years ago.

Paul worked as a tree surgeon, welder and mechanic.  He was very accomplished in all of his work and was said by many to be a jack of all trades.  He was an avid hunter, who especially liked hunting hogs.

He is survived by his wife, Brandy Scott of Patterson, Ga.; his mother, Diane Hope of Alachua, Fla.; two sisters, Jaime (John) Scott of Gainesville, Fla., Julie (Shane) Veatch of High Springs, Fla.; two brothers, Brian Bean of High Springs, Fla., Daniel Bean of Alachua, Fla.; a godson, Colton Hayes of Alachua, Fla.; two nieces, Paitan Cole of Patterson, Ga., Meagan Allday of Patterson, Ga.; best friends, Justin and Shaye Hayes of Alachua, Fla.; and a dozen dogs he loved like his own children.

A funeral service will be held Thursday, December 22, 2011 at 11 a.m. in the Chapel at Central Baptist Church in Waycross, Ga.  The family will receive friends in the chapel beginning at 10 a.m.

obit  Sybil Murphy Rooks, 87, passed away December 14, 2011 at Woodland Care Center in Gainesville, Fla.

She was born in Opp, Ala. on April 21, 1924. She was a member of Mt. Horeb Baptist Church.

She is survived by four sons; Don Rooks of High Springs, Layne Rooks of High Springs, Tommy Rooks of Newberry and Michael Rooks of Gainesville, Fla.; three daughters, Charlotte Jackson of Dillion, S.C., Sherry Cason of Fort White, Delilah Fields of Alachua; 13 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

Visitation will be on Friday, December 16, 2011 from 10 to 11 a.m., followed by funeral services at 11 a.m. at Mt. Horeb Baptist Church, with Rev. James West officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Horeb Cemetery.
